What are Matchstick Puzzles?
Matchstick puzzles are a type of mathematical puzzle where you need to move matchsticks to form valid equations.
Each matchstick represents a line segment in a digit, operator, or equality sign. The challenge is to move one or more matchsticks to create a mathematically correct equation.
Game Modes
Casual Mode
In Casual Mode, your goal is to find any valid solution to the puzzle by moving matchsticks. Once you find one solution, you've completed the puzzle!
Completionist Mode
In Completionist Mode, you need to find all possible valid solutions to the puzzle. The puzzle is only complete when you've discovered every solution.
Rush Mode
In Rush Mode, you race against the clock to solve as many puzzles as possible. Each solution extends your available time!
How to Solve Puzzles
1. Analyze the equation: First, look at what's wrong with the equation. It will typically be invalid in its starting state.
2. Identify potential moves: Think about which matchsticks can be moved to fix the equation. Sometimes you'll need to move multiple matchsticks.
3. Enter your solution: Type your solution in the input field to check if it's correct. The format should be exactly like a mathematical equation (e.g., "1+2=3").
4. Check your answer: Click the "Check Solution" button to see if your equation is valid.
Example
Initial Equation: 5+2=4
This equation is clearly incorrect since 5+2=7, not 4.
Possible Solution: Move one matchstick from the "+" sign to create "6-2=4".
By removing one matchstick from the "+" to create a "-", and adding that matchstick to convert the "5" on the left side to a "6", you create a valid equation: 6-2=4.
